REFLECTIONS ON THE FEAST OF THE HOLY FAMILY (December 26th, 2021)

After praising God for the gift of Jesus on Christmas we are called today to marvel at the mystery of FAMILY. Jesus was born in a FAMILY. He was surrounded by a father and a mother and so we see him “growing in age, wisdom and favor before God and Man.” Nothing like a healthy family to affirm the character of children! Jesus, Mary and Joseph stand as an outstanding model for families.
During the synod of the Bishops in Rome in 2015, a great insistence was put precisely on the necessity to find new ways to uphold and encourage marriage. The Synod of the Bishops re-affirmed the sacredness of the union of man and woman and their vocation to bring forth children into the world. The Church is not naïve; she acknowledges the huge challenges to a good marriage in our modern society. For instance, there are the demands of the economic system that force both parents to go to work which in many ways gravely affects family life.
But the deepest problem is not so much the social system as it is the current values promulgated by the modern culture. To counteract that, the Church affirms that sexual interaction is a great and sacred mystery to be exercised between men and women bonded in a union that must be faithful and permanent. God’s children do not enter into such union frivolously but only after careful discernment. Let’s contemplate Joseph and Mary and pray to them that we may emulate their mutual love! Let’s not confuse the urge for pleasure with true love! Love is from God! God is LOVE! Marriage is based on LOVE! Through contemplation of the HOLY FAMILY let us discover the greatness and beauty of married life! Through prayer learn to love truly and then marry!
REFLEXIONS SUR LES LECTURES DE LA FÊTE DE LA SAINTE FAMILLE (26 Décembre 2021)

Au lendemain de NOEL, l’Eglise nous invite à célébrer la Sainte Famille. Cela est merveilleux et fait éclater nos cœurs en action de grâces.
En regardant la crèche de Bethlehem, on ne peut manquer de remarquer que l’enfant Jésus est entouré d’un père et d’une mère. Les Écritures nous disent aussi que dans leur foyer à Nazareth, Jésus « a grandi en âge, en sagesse et en faveur devant Dieu et devant les hommes ». Nous déduisons de cette scène qu’il n’y a rien de tel qu’une famille saine pour présider à l’éducation d’un enfant. Marie et Joseph représentent un modèle exceptionnel pour les familles. Pas étonnant donc que nous célébrions aujourd’hui la fête de la sainte famille.
La FAMILLE, c’est beau ! C’est aussi difficile parce que l’amour est difficile. Notre société accentue tellement la liberté individuelle, le plaisir sans barrière morale que nos contemporains ont souvent peur de s’engager dans une union fidèle et durable. Disons-le, le mariage fait peur ! Les belles fleurs ne poussent pas sur le roc des cœurs étourdis. Quand on jette Dieu par la fenêtre l’on perd aussi tout sens de direction et toute inspiration profonde ! Ah ! Homme si seulement tu savais aimer !
Regardons Joseph et Marie, et Jésus qui au milieu d’eux “grandit en âge, en sagesse et en grâce.” La famille est irremplaçable pour l’épanouissement de l’enfant. L’interaction sexuelle est trop noble pour qu’elle soit simplement un jeu, un amusement sans lendemain, une bagatelle pour rire.
Le regard posé sur Joseph et Marie, l’Eglise enseigne que pour créer une famille, l’homme et la femme doivent vraiment pourvoir s’aimer, comme le Christ a aimé l’Eglise et qu’ils doivent s’engager à la fidélité et à l’indissolubilité de leur lien.
Fuyons comme la peste les faux-semblants de l’amour. L’amour à bon marché empoisonne l’existence ! La porte étroite est celle qui débouche sur la cité de la joie et de la victoire. Vive l’amour authentique ! Les familles solides rendent la nations solides et prospères ! O Haiti ! découvre le sens de la famille !

Let us go to Bethlehem !

Prophet Isaiah tells us: “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light. Upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom a light has shone. You have brought them abundant joy and great rejoicing, as they rejoice before you as at the harvest.” (Isaiah 9: 2-3)
Paul taught his disciple Titus: “The grace of God has appeared, saving all.” Tit 2,1.
The gospel leads us to Bethlehem. After the Shepherds heard the Angel of the Lord proclaiming to them the “Good News,” saying: “In the city of David a Savior was born who is the Messiah and the Lord,” they say to each other, “Let us go to Bethlehem to see this wonder that God has sent us.” Luke 2,15.
The Child was born at midnight the very moment when a day ends and another rises. At his birth a new period of history begins. The eternal Word of God enters time. The Old Testament vanishes to make room for a new type of relationship between the creature and the Creator.
Let’s go to Bethlehem. Faithful Christians from all over the world responded to the invitation of the shepherds. “Bethlehem” is the whole church. It can be a basilica, a cathedral, a church, a chapel, or any other gathering place, whether large or small. There they will find the baby lying in the manger. What an interesting miracle. A baby pulls them all.
Likewise, coming to Mass is coming to Bethlehem, to meet with Jesus. The name “Bethlehem” means “the house of bread.” In the Gospel of St John, Jesus presents himself as “the Living Bread that came down from heaven” (Jn 6:51). He gives his body for food and his blood as a drink for everlasting life. In the Eucharist, he makes it possible for us to share his body, the Bread of Life. And as he lays down in the manger, where the animals ate, the baby was actually “food” for our souls.
This Christmas, as we hear the call to go up to Bethlehem, the “house of bread,” let us ask ourselves: What is the bread of life for us? What is the bread of life for me? What’s so important, I shouldn’t miss in my life? Is it Jesus, or something else? And as we enter the manger, we see that the newborn child comes to us in poverty. At the same time, we feel that a new life is flourishing in simplicity. Let us ask ourselves: “Do I really need all these material things and intricate recipes to live my life? Jesus is the bread of life, for the journey of life. He invites us not to sit still; but to get up. Put on your apron. It’s time to start serving. Break the bread. Feed everyone else.

Le prophète Isaïe nous dit : « Le peuple qui marchait dans les ténèbres a vu une grande lumière. Sur ceux qui habitaient le pays d’alentour, une lumière a resplendi. Tu leur as apporté une joie abondante, comme ils se réjouissent devant toi au temps de la récolte.” (Isaïe 9 : 2-3) St Paul enseigne à Tite : « La grâce de Dieu est apparue pour sauver tout le monde.» Tit 2,1.
L’évangile nous conduit à Bethléem. Après que les bergers eurent entendu l’Ange du Seigneur leur annoncer la « Bonne Nouvelle », que : « Dans la ville de David est né un Sauveur qui est le Messie », ils se disent l’un à l’autre : « Allons à Bethléem pour voir cette merveille que Dieu nous a envoyée. » Luc 2,15. L’Enfant est né à minuit au moment même où un jour se termine et où un autre se lève. A sa naissance commence une nouvelle période de l’histoire. La Parole éternelle de Dieu entre dans le temps. L’Ancien Testament s’évanouit pour faire place à un nouveau type de relation entre la créature et le Créateur.
Allons à Bethléem. Les fidèles du monde entier ont répondu à l’invitation des bergers. “Bethléem” est l’église. Il peut s’agir d’une basilique, d’une cathédrale, d’une église paroissiale, d’une chapelle ou de tout autre lieu de rassemblement, grand ou petit. Là, ils trouveront le bébé couché dans la crèche. Quel miracle intéressant. Un bébé les attire tous.
De même, venir à la messe, c’est venir à Bethléem, pour rencontrer Jésus. Le nom « Bethléem » signifie « la maison du pain ». Dans l’évangile de saint Jean, Jésus se présente comme « le Pain Vivant descendu du ciel » (Jn 6, 51). Il donne son corps en nourriture et son sang en boisson pour la vie éternelle. Dans l’Eucharistie, il nous fait partager son corps, le Pain de Vie. Pendant qu’il est couché dans la crèche, où les animaux mangeaient, le bébé était en fait la « nourriture » pour nos âmes.
Posons-nous la question : « Quel est le pain de vie pour moi ? » Qu’est-ce qui est si important que je ne devrais pas manquer dans ma vie ? Est-ce Jésus ou autre chose ? Ai-je vraiment besoin de toutes ces choses matérielles et de ces recettes complexes pour vivre ma vie ? Dans la crèche nous contemplons le nouveau-né dans sa pauvreté. On sent qu’une nouvelle vie s’épanouit dans la simplicité. Jésus est le pain pour le chemin. Il t’invite à ne pas rester assis. Lève-toi. Mets ton tablier. Il est temps de commencer à servir. Rompons le pain pour nourrir les autres. Noël aujourd’hui, c’est ta chance, l’heure de la grâce ! Le ciel te tend la main, un trésor t’est offert ! La tendresse de Dieu nous interpelle à rejeter les passions d’ici-bas pour vivre dans le monde présent en hommes raisonnables, justes et religieux et ainsi atteindre le Bonheur que nous espérons, car Il s’est donné pour nous, pour faire de nous son peuple, un peuple ardent à faire le bien. (Tite, 2, 11-14).

WEEKLY BULLETIN SOLIDARITE ONLINE NEWSLETTER
The idea of a Newsletter for Haitians in the Diaspora germinated and came to fruition from the very beginning of what would become the Haitian Community of the United States. In the 1970s, around the Fathers of the Holy Spirit in Brooklyn, the magazine “SEL” played a pioneering role in paving the way. The Bulletin of the National Center of the Haitian Apostolate took over. It was a titanic job of presenting information, writing, compiling and preparing regular feature articles three or four times during the year on topics of interest to the community.
Developments in technology have offered new possibilities with online communication, allowing rapid dissemination of information and communication. Thus in the early 2000s, the Executive of the Haitian Apostolate took into account these technological advances to adapt to a new form of service to our communities.
The adventure began timidly in the year 2002, in parallel with the old format of the Quarterly Bulletin. The intention was to provide our Haitian people with a weekly publication with the objective of producing religious reflections, collecting local and international news and building up the unity of our community. The Bulletin is above all an instrument of evangelization. The rallying word was from our national motto “Unity is strength.” Unity in love is also a strength of the gospel. In this collective mission, the Online Solidarity Bulletin allows us to stay in permanent contact with the various communities of the diaspora and of Haiti.
Originally presented in a two-page format and distributed to a few dozen readers, the Bulletin now reaches over Ten Thousand people who receive it regularly and directly online. It is read in Haiti, Canada, Europe and many more countries, yet even Russia or Japan, the land of the rising sun. Haitians everywhere join us with their questions and comments.
The Bulletin also makes innovations in culture and society, education, health, and youth promotion. It organizes periodic online programs with young Haitians from all over the world and literary competitions to stimulate them. It identifies and highlights the socio-professional associations of our compatriots in the United States and elsewhere (engineers, doctors, professors, nurses, magistrates, lawyers, etc.) and exposes them to the community. It conducts talk shows with famous Haitians, presented as models to the new generation. It also highlights the presence of very simple individuals who are remarkable for the service they provide to the community.
Dubbed with Radio Télé Solidarité, the online Solidarity Bulletin promotes the fundamental values of the Gospel, and those of human promotion, in service, unity and solidarity.
In celebration of this Nineteenth Anniversary, I take pleasure in congratulating the team of our Bulletin Solidarity Online which provides invaluable service to the Haitian Apostolate. For the work accomplished, “Magnificat! Bless the Lord, O My soul! ” At the same time, I encourage them to move forward and contemplate new heights. May the light of Jesus always inspire them and the grace of God strengthen them! FRUCTIFICAT!

L’idée d’un Bulletin d’information pour les Haïtiens de la diaspora a germé et s’est concrétisée dès le début de ce qui allait devenir la Communauté Haïtienne des Etats-Unis. Dans les années 1970, autour des Pères du Saint Esprit, la revue « SEL » a joué un rôle de pionnier en ouvrant la voie. Le Bulletin du Centre National de l’Apostolat Haïtien a pris le relais. C’était un travail de titan qui consistait à présenter des informations, à rédiger, compiler et préparer régulièrement trois ou quatre fois durant l’année des articles de fond traitant des sujets d’intérêt à l’adresse de la communauté.
L’évolution de la technologie a offert des possibilités nouvelles avec la communication en ligne, permettant une rapide diffusion de l’information et de la communication. Ainsi au début des années 2000, la Direction de l’Apostolat Haïtien a pris en compte ces avancées technologiques pour s’adapter à une nouvelle forme de service à nos communautés.
L’aventure a commencé timidement en l’année 2002, de façon parallèle avec l’ancienne formule du Bulletin trimestriel. L’intention était d’offrir à notre population Haïtienne une publication hebdomadaire dont l’objectif serait de produire des réflexions religieuses, de collecter des nouvelles locales et internationales et de construire l’unité de notre communauté. Il est avant tout un instrument d’évangélisation. Le mot de ralliement était notre devise nationale « L’Union fait la force. » L’unité dans l’amour est aussi un point fort de l’Evangile. Dans cette mission est collective, le Bulletin Solidarité en Ligne nous permet de rester en contact permanent avec les différentes communautés de la diaspora et d’Haiti.
Présenté au départ dans un format de deux pages et distribué à quelques dizaines de lecteurs, le Bulletin atteint aujourd’hui plus de Dix Mille personnes qui le reçoivent en ligne régulièrement et directement. Il est lu en Haiti, au Canada, en Europe et même au Japon, au pays du soleil levant. Les Haïtiens de partout nous rejoignent avec leurs questions et leurs commentaires.
Le Bulletin fait aussi des innovations au niveau de la culture et société, de l’éducation, de la santé, de la promotion de la jeunesse. Il organise des émissions périodiques en ligne avec des Jeunes Haïtiens de toute la planète et des concours littéraires pour les stimuler. Il identifie et met en exergue les associations socio-professionnelles de nos compatriotes aux Etats-Unis et ailleurs (ingénieurs, médecins, professeurs, infirmières, magistrats, avocats, etc.). Il réalise des entrevues (talkshows) avec des Haïtiens/nes célèbres, présentés comme des modèles à la nouvelle génération. Il souligne aussi la présence de personnages très simples mais remarquables par les services qu’ils rendent à la communauté.
Doublé de Radio Télé Solidarité, le Bulletin Solidarité online fait la promotion des valeurs fondamentales de l’Evangile, et celles de la promotion humaine, dans le service, l’unité et la solidarité.
En la célébration de ce Dix-neuvième anniversaire, je prends plaisir à féliciter l’équipe du Bulletin Solidarité Online qui fournit un service inestimable à l’Apostolat Haïtien. Pour l’œuvre accomplie, « Magnificat ! Bénis le Seigneur, O Mon âme ! » Je les encourage en même temps à aller de l’avant et à contempler de nouveaux sommets. Puisse la lumière de Jésus toujours les inspirer et la grâce de Dieu les fortifier ! FRUCTIFICAT !

L’écrivaine et Poétesse Valérie Armand
L’année 2021 touche à sa fin : Année de pandémie, année de survie. C’est une année très difficile pour nous de la diaspora et pour notre peuple en Haiti. Que de départs d’êtres chers pour l’au-delà ! dont notre regretté Evêque Guy Sansaricq parti sur la pointe des pieds le Samedi 21 Aout ! Quelle situation lamentable pour notre pays ! Mais le Centre National de l’Apostolat Haïtien sur le leadership de Monseigneur Pierre André Pierre comme Directeur Exécutif continue d’avancer et de fonctionner.
Chaque fin d’année, nous choisissons toujours au bulletin hebdomadaire du Centre National de l’Apostolat Haïtien une personne de l’année. Notre choix s’est portée cette année sur l’écrivaine et poétesse Valérie Armand comme la femme de l’Année 2021 du Bulletin Hebdomadaire du Centre National de l’Apostolat Haïtien.
L’essayiste et Poétesse Valérie est la première fille du regretté artiste peintre Gesner Armand, l’un des fils les plus illustres de la Croix-des-Bouquets, et de Marlène Armand, professeure de formation, de foi catholique et très spirituelle.
Valérie est issue d’une famille catholique de plusieurs générations. Elle a fait ses études primaires et secondaires chez les Sœurs de Sainte Rose de Lima à Lalue (Port-au-Prince) et ses études universitaires à l’Université Columbia de New-York où elle a obtenu une Maîtrise en Littérature Française et en Philologie Romaine. Polyglotte, douée de plusieurs qualités, professeure d’université et femme de prière et de foi, Valérie relie bien sa science et sa foi Catholique.
Respectueuse et respectée dans sa communauté de Floride où elle vit actuellement, Valérie est une jeune écrivaine à la personnalité forte qui est comptée parmi les ambassadrices de sa ville natale de Croix-des-Bouquets (qui célèbre son 340ème Anniversaire dans moins de 2 ans). L’écrivaine Valérie est très proche de son pays Natal Haiti. Elle nous aide à prendre conscience de la vie sociopolitique d’Haïti dont elle entend nous rapprocher par sa poésie. Valérie, cette étoile féminine haïtienne, dotée d’une sensibilité étonnante, de grandes relations humaines, toujours prête à aider un ou une amie en difficulté, nous invite à partager sa joie, ses souvenirs, son grand amour pour sa terre natale Haïti.

The year 2021 is drawing to a close: Year of pandemic, year of survival. It is a very difficult year for us in the diaspora and for our people in Haiti. So many departures of loved ones for the hereafter! including our late Bishop Guy Sansaricq who tiptoed away on Saturday August 21! What a lamentable situation for our country! But the National Center of the Haitian Apostolate on the leadership of Monsignor Pierre André Pierre as Executive Director continues to move forward and operate.
Each end of the year, we always choose a person of the year from the weekly bulletin of the National Center for the Haitian Apostolate. Our choice this year fell on the writer and poet Valérie Armand as the Woman of the Year 2021 of the Weekly Bulletin of the National Center of the Haitian Apostolate.
The essayist and Poetess Valérie is the first daughter of the late painter Gesner Armand, one of the most illustrious sons of the Croix-des-Bouquets, and of Marlène Armand, a teacher by training, of the Catholic faith and very spiritual.
Valérie comes from a Catholic family of several generations. She did her primary and secondary studies with the Sisters of Saint Rose of Lima in Lalue (Port-au-Prince) and her university studies at Columbia University in New York where she obtained a Masters in French Literature and Philology. L’année 2021 est une année très difficile avec la pandemie du Covid 19 et les Cataclismes naturels tels que le tremblement de Terre en Haiti du 14 Aout 2021, la veuille de la fête de Notre Dame de l’assomption et l’ouragan Elsa qui a frappé Haiti au debut de l’Eté 2021.
Oui nous continuons à pleurer le depart des parents , des amis et le regretté Père Guy Chrispin , l’ancien Curé de la Paroisse Notre Dame du Rosaire qui est retourné à la maison du Père le 10 Juin dernier , LE regretté Evêque Guy Sansaricq, le 21 Aout dernier . Avec les yeux de la foi nous savons qu’ils sont tous à la maison du Père. Le Regretté Père Guy Chrispin a deja 6 mois depuis qu’il nous a laissé. Le Père Geto l’a succeedé et le Gwoup Pitit Manman Wozè continue son ministère qui consiste à supporter sa paroisse et mettre ensemble tous les fils et filles de la Croix-Des-Bouquets . Nous sentons la presence de Marie la divine mère de notre Église au sein du Gwoup Pitit Manman Wozè de la Diapora.
Malgré tous ces problèmes et difficultés Le Seigneur nous a fait cette grâce de celebrer une autre Fête de
Noel ou la naissance du petit Jesus qui s’est fait homme pour nous liberer du peché , des injustices et des exploitations de toutes sortes
. Rappelons que Manman Mari qui est la Mère de Notre Seigneur Jésus Christ. Elle est aussi Notre Mère et Notre Modèle au service de l’Eglise et du Peuple de Dieu. Marie en tant que Notre Mère et Notre Modèle n’a jamais cessé de dire “Oui” à Dieu depuis l’Annonce de l’Ange Gabriel (Luc 1:26-38). En effet, son “Oui” à Dieu pour devenir la Mère de Son Fils l’a conduit a s’engager dadvantage dans la vigne du Seigneur tels que: + sa visite à sa cousine Elisabeth, pour aller lui annoncer non seulement la Bonne Nouvelle qu’elle a reçu de l”Ange Gabriel, mais aussi pour se mettre au service de sa cousine (Luc 1:39-45). + Son départ en Egypte, lorsque le Roi Hérode cherchait à tuer Son Enfant Jésus qui venait de naître (Mt 2:13-18). + Sa présence et l’Expression de sa Foi à Cana en Galilée lors d’un Mariage ou Son Fils Jésus allait opérer Son Premier Miracle (Jn 2 1-12). + Quand elle allait a la recherche de Son Fils Jésus qui était resté dans le Temple à Jérusalem, lors d’un Pèlerinage Annuel (Luc 2:41-45). + Sa présence au Calvaire, au pied de la Croix, avant la mort de Son Fils, lorsque Jésus Lui-même nous a donné Sa Mère pour être Notre Mère (Jn 19:25-27).

The year 2021 is a very difficult year with the Covid 19 pandemic and natural cataclysms such as the earthquake in Haiti of August 14, 2021, the eve of the feast of Our Lady of the Assumption and hurricane Elsa which struck Haiti in early summer 2021.
Yes we continue to mourn the departure of parents, friends and the late Father Guy Chrispin, the former Pastor of Our lady Rosary of Croix-des-Bouquets who returned to the Father’s house on June 10, THE late Bishop Guy Sansaricq, on August 21 , 2021. With the eyes of faith we know that they are all at the Father’s house. The Late Father Guy Chrispin has already 6 months since he left us. Father Geto succeeded and Gwoup Pitit Manman Wozè continues his ministry which consists in supporting its parish and bringing together all the sons and daughters of Croix-Des-Bouquets. We feel the presence of Mary the divine mother of our Church within the Gwoup Pitit Manman Wozè de la Diapora.
Despite all these problems and difficulties The Lord has given us the grace to celebrate another Feast of Christmas or the birth of little Jesus who became man to free us from sin, injustices and exploitations of all kinds
. Il is important to remind that Manman Mari who is the Mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ. She is also Our Mother and Our Model at the service of the Church and of the People of God. Mary as Our Mother and Model has never ceased to say “Yes” to God since the Announcement of the Angel Gabriel (Luke 1: 26-38). December 26, 2021 is the 90th Birthday of Mrs. Elvire Othello, former student of the Pastoral College and member of the office of the National Center of the Haitian Apostolate. Elvire is one of the former students of the Pastoral College who renders a great service to the Office of the National Center of the Apostolate as a volunteer. The late French President Francois Mitterand (statesman, President (1916-1996) wrote: “On the site of these values, no volunteer is too much in these daily struggles demanded for the causes of freedom, equality, fraternity,”
Sr Elvire is originally from Port-au-Prince-Haiti. She spent her childhood in Gonaives known as the City of the Independence. She has been in the United States for 47 years and has worked as an ESL professor.
Elvire is always smiling. She is very spiritual and is a member of the Legion of Mary. Her 91th birthday is another day of grace for her. We read in Psalm 90:10 The Days of our years amount to seventy years and, for the more robust, to eighty years. So Sr. Elvira is among the strong ones.
Mgr Pierre Andre Pierre wishes Mrs. Othello a Happy Birthday in these words:
Beloved Elvire, we join you in giving thanks to God for your long life and the many blessings He has poured upon you. We trust that he will continue to keep his eyes of mercy upon you until the end of your earthly Pilgrimage. In the Most Holy Name of Jesus, I bless you with much fervor and love!

En cette fin d’année, je viens te dire mes vœux de paix, de joie, de bonheur et d’un fructueux ministère au Conseil Général des Montfortains. Continue de fleurir et de produire là où le Seigneur t’a planté, selon ses desseins insondables.
Je viens te dire aussi ma gratitude pour le service immense que tu as rendu à nos communautés de l’Apostolat Haïtien par la retraite de 3 jours que tu as animée pour nous depuis Rome, la Ville éternelle. Tes présentations coulaient de source et apportaient une bonne nourriture spirituelle à notre peuple qui cherche Dieu et la vie. Merci d’avoir répondu à notre attente. C’est une contribution remarquable à l’Apostolat.
Je t’en suis éternellement reconnaissant. Que le Seigneur te donne la santé et qu’il te garde toujours heureux. Puisse Marie toujours veiller sur toi et t’inspirer. Merci de ton amitié et de ta genereuse Collaboration .
